The Dykeenies - Youth

Here it is kids, the triumphant return of Cumbernauld’s finest, The Dykeenies.

This single, Youth, is taken from the hotly anticipated 2nd album - release date and title yet to be confirmed. I’ve had a sneaky peek at the track listing though and it seems there are a few familiar songs on there you’ll recognise from live shows. Sounds of the City gets another chance for release, Traps, Square Balloons and Awake are also featured along with some brand new material I shall report on after tomorrows show.

The band are currently on a mini-Scottish tour, playing Edinburgh tonight and Glasgow tomorrow. Previous dates in Aberdeen, Inverness and Dundee have be said to have gone very well with Dundee a sell out and the fans happily back supporting this great Scottish band.

Fancy winning a framed and signed drawing of a beard by Scott Hutchinson plus a limited edition box set containing four 7” singles from the album Winter of Mixed Drinks? Then it’s time to dust off the old MySpace box and comment #LOVEFrightenedRabbit on their profile.

Jessie J - Price Tag - Live on Later… with Jools Holland

Jessie J is set to take off in the UK after being named the winner of the Critics Choice Brit award 2011. The award previously won by Florence and the Machine and Ellie Goulding obviously sets a great path for any winner and Jessie is due a great year and this time on her own merit. The Essex singer has previously penned hits for Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown and Christina Aguilera. You may recognise her track Sexy Silk from the Easy A sound track and Who You are made it into the 3rd Step Up Soundtrack.

I’m sure this time next year everyone will be talking about Jessie J and her quirky, urban hits.

Ella Fitzgerald - Sleigh Ride

The Lafontaines - Biggy Clyro (Money of Horror)

This Scottish rap band give Biffy a Ghetto makeover and a glimpse into their life if they were to embark on a “Money, cash, hoes” lifestyle.

Frightened Rabbit - It’s Christmas So We’ll Stop (Live at ABC, 22 December 2009)

Scott Hutchinson (Frightened Rabbit) & Louis Abbott (Admiral Fallow) cover Elton John & Kiki Dee’s Don’t Go Breaking My Heart at an intimiate and private gig in Bloc, Glasgow.
